Complesso monumentale Eremo del Sasso

Complesso monumentale Eremo del Sasso

Complesso monumentale Eremo del Sasso, located on the border between Marche and Umbria, is an architectural asset. In 1210, it was the first convent to host San Francesco in Marche region.  It was built in the tenth century, abandoned in 1866, reinhabited by the friars since 1966 but in 1997 it was heavily damaged because of the earthquakes. Before a convent, then a place for the community with multiple uses, the Complesso monumentale Eremo del Sasso is a Cultural Heritage of singular historical-architectural value.

That is why, it houses two guest quarters, offices, a restaurant, a historical library, an auditorium and lots of multifunctional rooms for public use.

The restoration works of various areas includes: extraordinary maintenance, consolidation of existing brick’s buildings, restoration of the decorative apparatus, consolidation of the rocky boulder on which the Hermitage stands, reconstruction of the buildings collapsed after the earthquakes of 1997, resolution of static and seismic interferences between adjacent buildings or between existing buildings and new buildings, raising of the refectory (existing building) and the construction of the new bell tower.

Through the restoration work, the Complesso monumentale Eremo del Sasso presents a collective use, preserving the intrinsic character of its history and the undeniable charm of the place.
